About Chris Spear

Chris Spear is the chef and owner of Perfect Little Bites, an in-home personal chef business based in Frederick, Maryland. You might also know him as the host of the Chefs Without Restaurants podcast, and the man behind the culinary networking organization of the same name. Chris graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a B.S. in culinary arts, and has been working in the foodservice industry for almost 30 years. Chris dreamed of bringing an upscale dining experience directly into peoples' homes, and he started his personal chef business on the side in 2010. Tired of the corporate foodservice grind, he left his job and took his business full-time in 2016. Specializing in contemporary American cuisine with global influences, Perfect Little Bites services the metro Washington D.C. and Baltimore areas, as well as parts of West Virginia, Southern Pennsylvania, and Northern Virginia. Wanting to build a community to help support other food entrepreneurs, Chris started the Chefs Without Restaurants community. Its focus would be on sharing gig opportunities and knowledge, as well as doing collaborative pop-up events. This led to the launch of the Chefs Without Restaurants podcast in late 2019, and the show features guests working in aspects of foodservice such as catering, research & development, contract foodservice, and the food truck industry. Now Chris splits his time between cooking unique dishes for his guests, such as scrapple dip, and engaging with the culinary community he built. He has written editorials for StarChefs, and some of his recipes can be found on the Garden & Gun and Imbibe websites. You can also find an illustration of his chest tattoo in the book Knives & Ink, along with his recipe for smoked gouda and hot pepper pimento cheese. Chris is also a husband, and father of twins. When he's not cooking or talking about food, you'll probably find him taking photos, wandering an art gallery, or rocking out at one of DC's concert venues. Ask to see his Star Wars collection, or to tell you about the time Bill Murray inadvertently ruined his anniversary dinner.

Listed skills include Catering, Culinary Skills, Menu Development, Restaurant Management, and 22 others.

Going out to eat is a real pain. You have to make reservations, settling for a time you don’t want to eat, if you can get a reservation at all. You have to drive to the restaurant and either waste a lot of time looking for street parking, or pay a ridiculous amount of money for valet or a parking garage. You get there and your table isn’t ready. Your food seems to take forever. They won’t accommodate your special diet. You both want to have a drink, but driving while intoxicated is both stupid and illegal. If you have kids, you have to find a babysitter, potentially tacking on upwards of $30. Why bother? The solution is Perfect Little Bites. I bring the restaurant to you. My name is Chris Spear. I work as an in-home personal chef and culinary instructor in Frederick, Maryland and the surrounding areas. Whether you’re interested in having a fun dinner party, an intimate meal for two, or learning how to cook, I can help. As a working professional with kids, I know how hard it can be to get out of the house and have a great dining experience. I want to provide you with a memorable, restaurant-quality food experience in the comfort of your own home. I use modern techniques and source the best products available. I bring the food, china, linens and cooking equipment. As long as you have a stove, oven, fridge and microwave, I’m ready to work. When I’m done, your kitchen will be left spotless. I’m the only chef in the area doing this right now. In addition to having an amazing meal, you save all that valuable time you would have otherwise lost traveling, parking and waiting. The money you save on that babysitter and parking garage can be better spent on flowers or a small gift for your partner. So, go ahead, pop a bottle and pour a drink. I’ll take care of the rest.
