For my first project I increased a widely used customer application to a newer version of Node by upgrading dependencies, changing React code, and solving other errors that arose. For my 2nd project, I was the front-end developer of an internal website that will automate a heavily used process, which I built from scratch using React, CSS, and other npm dependencies. For both of these projects I also created testing environments and cases utilizing various testing frameworks and libraries: Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Enzyme, Chai, Mocha, and React Testing Library.

I used JavaScript and PlayCanvas Game Development Application to create a virtual version of PGE’s internal board game. As a member of the Front-End development team, I created and textured 3D models and put them onto screens that would be displayed during different parts of the game. I also scripted button presses and game logic to allow flow from one screen to another. My most significant contribution to the team was that I scripted all code for the movement of player and competition tokens around the board, where the tokens would move the amount of spaces decided by a dice roll, and would jump over any tokens in front of them.

I taught students Java coding and VEX Robotics. Those learning Java received instruction on both beginner and advanced concepts, which allowed them to create text based games, as well as games containing graphics, movement, and music. Within VEX, I instructed the students on how to use tools and read instructions, so they could put together a working robot. I also taught them C++ so they could code the robot to participate in head-to-head competitions.

I was selected as an award recipient for Oregon State’s URSA Engage program. I was partnered up with a faculty member who utilizes VR and AR to test research hypotheses. In this role, I created and built my own research project, which looked to create a game that would change the attitude and behaviors of anyone who played it towards picking up and sorting waste into their respective bins. However, because of the 5 month time limit on the program, we weren’t able to start volunteer testing to test the validity of our hypothesis and gather data.To create the game, I used CityEngine and Unreal Engine 4 primarily.

I taught younger students the fundamentals of coding through a scratch like application, which allowed them to control a Cozmo robot. For older students, I taught them how to create text based and graphical games in C++ and Java, by guiding them through lessons on basic and advanced coding.

I worked with groups of 20-50 children, from 1st through 6th grade, where I assisted in supervising and interacting with the children, as well as preparing and leading activities.
