Lead the research, development and deployment of the Vipe video application platform. Solved many technical challenges, managed outsourced projects/consultants, and scaled the system from proof of concept to adoption. Utilized many technologies: Adobe Flex, LAMP, HTML/CSS/JS, Video encoding, enterprise integration, and a lot more.

Utilized Bugzilla, a leading open source bug tracking platform to create an internal helpdesk management system. Lead the effort to build enterprise reporting into the platform, and worked closely with business stakeholders to define, develop and deploy a comprehensive analytics solution to facilitate forecasting of helpdesk workload.

Consulted on a large scale metrics processing system that aggregated all searches and actions across Amazon.com properties. Worked with business stakeholders to define key metrics and implemented a comprehensive front-end to metrics data. Utilized PHP and AJAX to drastically improve performance and UX, which was still relatively new in 2006.

Worked on the infrastructure team to build and deploy major features to the biggest personals site in the world (50M total users around that time). Maintained a mass scale mailing system to introduce existing users to new users based on preferences. Lead the R&D on a services-oriented (SOA) solution to increase site performance. Discovered and pushed for deployment of Memcached, a memory caching technology, then lead the deployment to vastly increase site performance, and boost revenue, complete with operational support tools (graphs, monitoring, etc.)

Brought in to troubleshoot the performance of the entire web tier (Apache/Tomcat) and worked to re-factor complex J2EE screen-scraping code. Designed and implemented a verified data transmission tool designed to work across firewalls, proxies, and be extremely fault tolerant. (Win32, Perl)

Brought in to analyze security for web applications running on nortelnetworks.com in response to a CA audit that found major issues. Re-factored many existing systems, worked with business stakeholders to deploy new systems, consolidated logging to a persistent backend and ensured that the everything successfully passed the next security audit.

(EXP.com was a marketplace for experts that did not make it through the dotcom bust.) Developed various website features specifically focusing on complex, cutting-edge and the most highly visited sections of the site.

Handled complex technical issues and interfaced with customers over email and telephone. Performed system administration tasks, built servers, wrote Perl scripts to automate system administration tasks, etc.
