CurrentIn addition to writing and editing projects that are on-going, I manage our antique and re-purposing shop The Blue Goose with my wife. The projects add to my creative and marketing interests and allows us to continue some of the collecting that we enjoy together.I wrote a biography of my foster son and his brother who were raised in the ghetto in Memphis, TN. David, my son, has grown out of that world and is a highly successful educator, business man, and father after his wife was taken by cancer when their daughter was about ten a few years ago.. The second "character" is just that: An independent, determined man who was paralyzed in a football accident as a Tenth Grade star player. Although still paralyzed, he is in the gym working toward physical independence goals and is looking forward to the production of a documentary that corresponds with my book titled BROTHERS: The Mario Reed Story. As a member of the West Tennessee Griot Collective, I enjoy writing poetry, much of which is either personally based or spiritually or socially expressive, directly or indirectly. The essence of my next book will be a historical non-fiction based on family members going back to the 19th Century life of my maternal great grandmother, a Civil War (War Between the States) widow and climaxes in the social and political struggle in West Tennessee based on not allowing non-white American's to vote. The period was the Tent City Affair at which time the white landowners forced their sharecroppers to live in tents in the winter with no other shelter if it was discovered that they had tried to register to vote. As a retired Tennessee English teacher/counselor, I found that writing gives me a means of expression and release, trying to express the laughter and the pain, the real human condition. The Blue Goose antique/collectible booths satisfy a social and habitual need.
