Perry co-founded Draper Athena in 2008 and has invested and served on the board of many successul companies both public and private. His investment areas span across software, data analytics, semiconductors, cleantech, eSports, AI, web3 and education. Having served as CEO at three portfolio companies during his investment career, he brings operational insight into his investments. He currently serves on the board of several companies including as board chair of Juvenis, Inc. and Knowledge AI. He supports MIT who provided him the educational foundation when he was an immigrant. He chaired his Class Reunion Campaign for multiple years; served on numerous Visiting Committees; and served on the MIT Board of Trustees as Chair of the Education Visiting Committee. He currently serves on Corporate Development Committee, Alumni Association Corporate Nominations Committee, and on the Leadership Board of MIT McGovern Institute for Brain Research. His passion lies in supporting Korean Americans. He frequently gives seminars and speaks at conferences in Korea and the US; and mentors several Korean startup CEOs. He served as the Board Chair of KACF-SF (Korean American Community Foundation of San Francisco), an advisor to Bay Area K-Group, and a founding Board Member of CKA (Council of Korean Americans). He was honored with a Distinguished Honorary Professorship at Sookmyung Women’s University and received the Order of Civil Merit from the President of the Republic of South Korea.
