My primary goal is to show students how to "prepare smart, study smart, and work smart" and empower them with in-class comprehension strategies, immediate and long-term organizational and planning systems/strategies, and academically stimulating and enriching modifications.

In the immediate term, today's classwork, prep for next week's test, or next month's research project will be well-understood and effectively planned. With intention, these assignments will be thoughtfully and successfully completed.

While tutoring, my overarching goals include:

* Confirming and focusing on the student's prior, foundational knowledge and skills required for their success

* Modeling what "Giving Your Best" actually looks like and how to build that muscle

* Teaching that a lack of immediate success is "okay" but focused study and work skills, commitment, some measured risk-taking, and follow-through must ALL work together to achieve academic success going forward

Finally, I've discovered that most students CAN "turn down the volume" of their often misguided internal thoughts of, "I CAN'T...", "I'LL NEVER...", "I HATE DOING...", "I'M REALLY BAD AT..." By encouraging a meaningful shift away from this type of self-talk, I work diligently to foster self-awareness, resilience, and an increasing WILLINGNESS to take on challenges.

Volunteer position partnering with lead teachers in two separate classrooms and leading groups of 3 and 4 year old children. I engaged the groups in outdoor and indoor projects and play, both structured and unstructured.

Beverly Hills, California

Utilizing a retail gallery space in the fine arts district along La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles and then in Beverly Hills, assisted established collectors and mentored new collectors, both nationally and internationally. Was a recognized expert and resource in the consultation and procurement of fine art work and collections of significant aesthetic, financial, and potential investment value.

Curated and installed gallery exhibitions of established and emerging artists. Business and expertise focused on Post-War Contemporary Art, Early 20th Century California Impressionism, and Los Angeles-based Emerging Artists.

In 1994, designed and authored one of the nation's first fine art websites, approximately 200 pages in breadth and depth designed for the purpose of educating potential and existing clients and fostering online commerce.

Directing a team of seven employees, and utilizing traditional marketing media (Direct Mail, Television) my business partner and I were responsible for introducing the work and curating gallery exhibitions of well-established and internationally collected contemporary artists such as Warhol, Hockney, Lichtenstein, Francis, and deKooning. We provided consultation services to a burgeoning local and national client base of both new and established collectors.
