I spent the summer working in the field as an apprentice laborer. The task was to seismically upgrade a Kaiser hospital building in Walnut Creek. Each day of work I better understood the task at hand, how to work efficiently, and most importantly how to work as a team. I gained enough trust from the superintendent to where he gave me the task of directing to my fellow laborers the laying out of rebar for the footings. I worked with my mentor, Gary Gibson, on the Sunnyvale Water Treatment plant. I created a foam model of the main treatment tank. I used Bluebeam to convert hand drawn concrete pour plans into computer precise sketches. I presented what I learned from the internship in front of the company.
