Starting my forty-second season in 2022 of umpiring amateur and professional baseball, encompassing major league spring training and Division I college ball, including the Cape Cod League and the Alaska League, with international umpiring experience in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Guam, and the Dominican Republic. I spent four years (1998 - 2001) umpiring, supervising, and scheduling umpires for the independent Atlantic League; taught umpiring to public school students in the Bronx 1992/'93 as part of an accredited program ("Sports Officiating Studies," or "SOS") funded by the New York City Department of Education. I'm a former musician, songwriter, and solo performer who opened shows for Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Hall & Oates, and others; published author of dozens of articles and profiles of other sports officials for "Referee Magazine"; internet blogger ("Dishing It... and Taking It Too.") Currently on the board of directors of the International Women's Baseball Center (IWBC,) a 5.01 (c)3 whose mission is to preserve and protect the history of women and baseball as well as promote opportunities for girls and women to play, coach, and umpire baseball worldwide. The IWBC is currently spearheading a project to build a girls and women's baseball museum near the site of historic Beyer Stadium in Rockford, Illinois, home of the Rockford Peaches, one of the teams featured in the hit film "A League Of Their Own." I also work with Justine Siegal's "Baseball For All" foundation and tournaments.Specialties: Assigning, scheduling, and coordinating umpire staffs for various camps and leagues. Also, articulating either through public speaking, music, or print the rewards of umpiring and the value of umpiring services to local communities as well as to high schools, colleges, and other sports organizations.
