After graduating from Auburn University in 1977 with a Batchelor Degree in Architecture and 26 years 3 months as a Senior Architect with S&W - now SSOE/S&W, I have decided to retire. As of February 25, 2022, I am moving onto the next chapter in my life- being a grandfather to 2 adorable granddaughters- Hadley & Kayla. Additionally, my daughter & son-in-law are expecting their first child. It has been a wonderful experience and journey being an Architect in Atlanta working on prestigious projects such as the addition & renovation of Grady Hospital & Clinic from 1990-1995; the new Georgia State University Law School, Nathan Deal Judicial Center, Howard Middle School, the new Georgia Department of Public Safety currently under construction, and many new K-12 school replacement projects to name a few projects. I have met quite a few architectural representatives and have attended-listened to many lunch & learns which enhanced my architectural knowledge.

Serve as Project Manager, Project Architect and Designer, and Construction Administrator of a multi-disciplinary, award-winning architectural/engineering firm. Meet with owners to discuss objectives, requirements, and budgets of projects. Develop schematic drawings and solicit client feedback, sometimes through the use of design charettes. Collaborate with M/E/P and structural engineers with the architectural team to develop construction drawings and design specifications. Coordinate with general contractors during bid and value engineering process. Resolve design and construction issues ranging from unforeseen building conditions to owner-directed changes during construction. Provide full construction administration services including construction meeting minutes, review and approval of shop drawings, pay applications and change orders, punch lists, and Certificate of Substantial Completion.
Senior Healthcare Architect
Urs Consultants/Grady Team
Served as team member in the remodeling and addition of Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Coordinated design of all specialized medical equipment spaces for the renovation of the existing hospital and assisted in the addition of a 303-bed, 375,000 SF clinic building. Interacted extensively with equipment systems planner/consultant, headwall rail system representative, and engineers to ensure that room requirement needs were met. Rooms ranged from physical examination to a MICU/SICU area to delivery/surgery suite and a NICU. Provided construction field administration by reviewing shop drawing submittals and answering pertinent construction document questions from the contractor.
