The head of his own full-service transportation business since the age of 23, Chicago native Perry Mandera first learned how to operate heavy trucking equipment during his service with the U.S. Marines Reserves. Today, he sits on the Board of the Directors of the Illinois Trucking Association (ITA) and leads the success of The Custom Companies, Inc., the venture he founded in 1986. Outside of professional pursuits, Perry Mandera displays a compassion for others as founder of his own charity and the supporter of many others. A diverse transportation company, Perry Mandera’s The Custom Companies maintains close communications with vendors to ensure that their products receive safe and timely shipping. The Custom Companies accommodates customers with 24/7 satellite tracking, storing and warehousing, competitive pricing, and domestic and international forwarding services. In 2000, Perry Mandera’s innovative efforts in the industry earned him a position among the ITA’s Top 100 American Transportation Executives of the Millennium. Passionate about using his position to improve the futures of individuals in many communities, Perry Mandera directed the provision of more than 40 truckloads of food to the people of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. Additionally, Perry Mandera established Custom Cares Charities, a non-profit venture that supports underprivileged children. Enthusiastic about enabling youth, he also sits on the Board of Directors of The Walter and Connie Payton Foundation, a group that assists disadvantaged children by staging holiday giving programs and a host of fundraisers. In addition to contributing his energy to these projects, Perry Mandera donates to charities and worthy organizations including the Lynn Sage Foundation, The University of Chicago Medical Center, and Catholic Charities USA. In his free time, Perry Mandera maintains an active lifestyle as a coach of children’s football, basketball, and baseball.
