Safe Pet is a program within the Shelby County Humane Society which provides services throughout the state of Alabama. The purpose of Safe Pet is to provide assistance to anyone who is actively seeking domestic violence services or entry into a DV shelter but who feels they cannot leave a beloved pet behind: either because they know a beloved pet will be harmed or because they realize an abuser will use the threat of harm to manipulate them into returning. No one should delay leaving an abusive relationship out of fear they must abandon their animals.As the Safe Pet Coordinator I develop, organize and maintain a network of volunteers, animal clinics, and boarding facilities. This is all in support of partnering domestic violence shelters across the state with a shared goal of helping animals and their owners who are victim survivors of domestic abuse.My job is to help keep family together and keep dogs and cats who are loved and wanted out of already overcrowded animal shelters, or worse, prevent them from being harmed by abusers.

Maintain client trust fund accounts, responsible for proper accounting and receipt of client funds and payment of client bills, assisting with budgeting.Oversee client AR and prepare payments.Invoicing, preparation of financial reports, handling of AP disbursements and special accounting and financial projects as needed.

As MAA acquired Post my function was to maintain my previous duties while transitioning my position over to the team in Memphis.

Creation, management and retention of electronic documents via email capture and paper to paperless processing. A/P, Invoice processing (data entry, reconciliation, approval, posting). A/R, adjustment/refunding resident credit card payments. File retention/management of hard files both on and offsite. Implementation of new software/payment systems/scanning technology. Member of shared services department responsible for office services and file/records management. Some mail room duties.Coordinated with 14 domestic offices plus 5 international offices. Later, member of transition team which migrated department from Atlanta to Miami, Johannesburg and Chennai. Responsible for establishing new roles in Miami, training staff and development of local records retention and management policies.
