Peta is a Perth-born former opera singer who attended the University of Western Australia (UWA) and completed a Bachelor of Arts in 1984, majoring in English.Peta went to the WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) to study classical singing, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music, before completing her Preliminary Masters in 1995 at UWA. She sung in the chorus for WA Opera and Opera Australia, and as a soloist for many groups including Pocket Opera, WA Opera, Los Trios Divas, Festival of Perth, Lieder Society of WA, Festival of Perth, UWA Choral Society and WA Symphony Orchestra.Peta studied conducting at WAAPA and has conducted concerts for WAAPA, Murdoch University Choir and All Saints College.Peta taught singing privately and at a number of schools and was a singing and choral adjudicator for many years.In 1999, due to ill health, Peta withdrew from her Master’s degree and retired from all singing and teaching. In 2000, she commenced work with the Public Service and completed her Diploma of Business (Front Line Management) in 2006. She retired in 2013. Peta has experience writing press releases and has assisted with publicity and grant applications for a number of musical organisations. She also has experience writing and editing biographies, program notes, translations and synopses for concert and opera programs. Understanding budgets, profit and loss statements and basic bookwork has also assisted with preparing submissions for grants and sponsorships.Peta has worked with Cappuccino Concerts, Duo Torino, Chimera Ensemble and Music Book. She has helped with most aspects of event management, including promotion, sponsorship applications, front of house and programmes. She worked as a volunteer with the Awesome Arts Festival for children, and is currently Treasurer for Music Book Stories Inc.
