I worked at Southern River college for three very enjoyable years as an English teacher and coordinator of the Inter-school Debating and Mock Trials programs. This job helped me become an experienced teacher and I developed special interests in working with extension English students, coordinating debating and extracurricular communication skills programs and teaching English Literature. I taught students form year 7-12 and differentiated the learning tasks for classes of students with diverse needs, extending aspiring and gifted and talented students, working closely with Indigenous and EALD students. Through working at Southern Rover I practiced my behaviour management skills to support all kinds of students. I enjoyed working with other staff to continue to improve my classroom practice and adopt whole school approaches across my three years at the college. At Southern River I used my strong inter-personal and communication skills to form positive relationships with students and families, colleagues and the broader school community; I will miss Southern River dearly.
