Twenty years ago, when I took a job washing dishes in a cafe in Sydney I had no idea that it would lead me to negotiating commercial leases, managing large scale fit out projects and delivering a local government response to a global crisis. But it did, and now here I am.After over a decade working nearly every role that the hospitality industry had to offer, I shifted gears and joined the Commercial team on the UK's largest residential regeneration project. Here I successfully completed a number of high value projects, including commercial fit out works in excess of £4M and a series of digital projects, delivering websites, online booking systems and CRM systems. With the advent of a Global pandemic I was then given the chance to work in local government, managing both the strategic and operational delivery of elements of the councils COVID response. During this time I also worked closely with the Department of Health and Social Care, project managing groundbreaking studies which will be used to shape the nations pandemic response for years to come.Currently, I have project oversight for the Homes for the Ukraine Scheme. Here the project team have set about delivering the best end to end process and structure to ensure a safe resettlement of displaced Ukrainian citizens. Our agile approach to the changing situation has enabled us to engage a range of multi-disciplinary stakeholders so the project can provide our guests with the most fulfilling life possible, for as long as they need. Throughout my career I have been lucky. Lucky to have worked with amazing people that have helped me to learn and grow more than I ever imagined possible. Lucky to have been given new opportunities to expand my skills and continue to challenge myself. The only question now is, what's next?
