Sr Associate - Geotechnical Engineer
CurrentAfter over 30 years in the public sector with the Oregon Department of Transportation, Pete has joined Shannon and Wilson’s Lake Oswego office as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and quality control reviewer for challenging geotechnical projects and operational issues in Oregon in the highway transportation sector. Pete is a licensed Professional Engineer in Oregon, especially qualified in both Civil and Geotechnical Engineering. He has over 30 years of professional highway transportation geotechnical experience in the most challenging geologic provinces in Oregon with notable boots on the ground, real-world, experience with resolving challenging construction and operational issues relative to geotechnical construction with a focus on bridge foundations, landslide and rockfall hazards, as well as roadway and foundation scour. Pete has expert level experience with geo-hazards and response to operational emergencies. He has been involved as the Engineer of Record or quality control reviewer for the design over 500 bridge foundation designs. He also has experience with over 200 landslides and rockfall events. Pete is known for consistently applying complex principles to real world problems in a practical, economical and timely manner. In recent years, he pioneered ODOT’s initial usage of ground based radar and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) for real time landslide and ground movement monitoring.
