National Counter Terrorism Police Headquarters (Nctphq) - Aviation Protective Security

Seconded to this specialist team, I identify risk and develop innovative and modern approaches to deliver resilient protective measures; effectively mitigating terrorism threat to UK domestic aviation. As a counter terrorism security coordinator (CT SecCo), I provide expert protective advice and asset coordination to secure national and international events, locations and individuals are protected against the risk from a range of terrorist activity. Working specifically with aviation policing teams across the UK, I coordinate response and develop readiness around these critical issues. Liaising with UK Services and internal partners, I promote the proactive sharing and development of intelligence to deliver robust protection. This includes consideration of insider threat vulnerability and development planning to manage the potential of airborne terrorism activity in the UK. Working within a dedicated subject matter expert group, I liaise with international partners to develop robust mitigation against surface to air threats to commercial aviation. Focusing on geographical areas that pose high risk to UK nationals, I advise international partners on current risk and develop mitigation plans to manage specific dangers. I work closely with UK intelligence services to recognise and assess global risk to UK airlines, going on to advise, guide and, where necessary, drive mandatory sanctions of UK airlines to mitigate risk and protect UK interests globally. I develop guidance, based on the most current information, for the entire UK aviation sector to ensure awareness of evolving risk and the implementation of appropriate protective security measures. Seeking to identify risk across UK airfields, including small airstrips and flying clubs, I encourage vigilance and greater awareness of risk and enhancement of security vigilance.

Safer Transport Team

Working in partnership with Transport for London, I led teams in the mitigation of transport centric crime. This collaborative approach supported intelligence driven operations that secured the arrest of serious offenders and challenged a range of offending from gang crime to pickpockets, sex offending, robbery and anti-social behaviour.

Aviation Policing Command

Within an armed response team, I provided security and policing for this busy city airport and its surrounding area; demonstrating the ability to think quickly and accurately to assess fast time situations in reaction to threat. I built resilient relationships across internal and external partnerships to secure the most effective service delivery and minimise threat to national safety. On promotion, I led teams and directed rigorous preventative and reactive operations to manage and mitigate terrorist risk. This included the provision of armed interceptions on vehicles identified as high threat and, reflecting evolving terrorism risk, preparedness to respond to ‘lone wolf’ attackers, active shooters and marauding terrorist attacks. I led planned and managed operational requirements alongside the professional development, discipline and welfare needs of my team.

Royalty And Specialist Protection

I was responsible for the static protection of the Royal Family and their residential protection at Buckingham Palace. Providing armed protection and delivery of exceptional security standards, I conducted significant risk assessments and developed and implemented successful resolutions to evolving requirements and external influences and threats. I monitored security systems and undertook appropriate scrutiny of private guests and, during events, large numbers of visitors. I consistently ensured strict compliance with exacting policy and procedure requirements.

Territorial Support Group

I served in this fast response unit addressing dangerous and pressured situations across London. I brought a calm and reasoned approach to manage demanding and heightened situations. I was also tasked to gather, research and utilise intelligence and was engaged in protracted and complex surveillance operations and investigations. I worked in liaison with a variety of partners, providing support to numerous units throughout London and the UK, including covert surveillance environments, counter terrorism commands, murder squads and specialist gang investigation units.

Operational Policing

I undertook a range of development, building a foundation of effective enquiry, observation and personal interaction. In an operational setting, I was tasked with the immediate response to critical incidents and the management of operational activities. I brought a considered approach to this role, processing information quickly and accurately and exercised exceptional conflict management skills, connecting with people even in the most challenging of circumstances. I also undertook a range of public order duties, deploying at major disorders and high risk football events.

Undertaking customer focused duties, I handled cash and processed payments ensuring continuous attention to detail and data accuracy.
