I have been involved in Infrastructure Managed Services and IT Outsourcing since the mid 1980s: As an IT Manager and buyer (customer) of IT supplier’s solutions and services, and as a seller (supplier) of Managed Services and Strategic Outsourcing solutions. I have been selling IBM offerings, developing IT solutions and closing IT SO deals for customers with IBM since 2001. Prior to joining IBM, I have held various IT Infrastructure Line Management roles, and lead many Infrastructure Transformation Projects. While I have maintained a technical awareness (i.e. with Virtualisation, Cloud, Mobile, Social, Security, Analytics, Service Delivery Management including ITIL,) I do not regard myself as a deep technical person. My skills are broader and deeper in mainly the IT Infrastructure Management and Sourcing space allowing me to carry out a number of tasks including, for example, the following:1. Perform as a Strategic Outsourcing (SO) Managed Services role as either BDE (business development) or CSE (business closing) for IT providers.2. Act as SO consultant for IT buyers (prior to ITT and/or during ITT.)3. Carry out the role of IT Infrastructure Project Manager for buyers or suppliers leading teams to design and transform the IT legacy environment.4. Carry out the role of IT Outsource Project Manager for buyers looking to run an ITT IT Infrastructure Outsource.5. Act as SO consultant in the validation of assessing SO opportunities including developing IT base and business cases.6. Act as SO author and consultant to write IT Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposals (RFPs) tender documents and evaluate supplier responses.7. To provide strategic advise and guidance in the assessment for the options of managing and sourcing IT environments.
