Maintenance Controller - Aviation maintenance controllers/production controllers are responsible for planning, directing, and controlling the performance and execution of Aviation Maintenance Department functions at the organizational and intermediate levels. They are responsible for technician aircraft maintenance and aeronautical repair that ensure the unit's combat readiness or ability to perform its mission. They must be able to establish department goals and to develop the plans to meet those goals. A high level ot expertise is required to supervise the execution of the various tasks encompassed within the wide spectrum of aviation maintenance matters. They must possess a detailed, working knowledge of all Navy-sponsored aviation maintenance programs and processes governed by COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790 (series). In addition, aviation maintenance controllers/production controllers must have detailed knowledge of the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Management Information Systems (NALCOMIS).Maintenance\Material Control Chief – Supervised the Maintenance Controllers and Material Controllers as well as provided the training for management of all aviation assets and personnel in the squadron. Examines engines for oil leaks, and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions. Tests engine operation, using testing equipment to locate source of malfunction. Repairs or replaces defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. May service and repair aircraft and engines prior to, during, or after flight to ensure airworthiness, working on flight line. Supervises and coordinates activities mechanics engaged in maintaining and repairing aircraft and aircraft engines: Trains employees in work methods and procedures. Inspects work to maintain specified standards and quality.

H53A\D\E - Helicopter Crew Chief - Helicopter crew chiefs, CH-53; are flight crewmembers that perform duties incident to the maintenance and operation of Marine CH-53 helicopters. In-flight Mechanic - Makes preflight, inflight, and postflight inspections, adjustments, and minor repairs to ensure safe and efficient operation of aircraft: Inspects aircraft prior to takeoff for defects, such as fuel or oil leaks and malfunctions in electrical, hydraulic, or pressurization systems, according to preflight checklist. Verifies passenger and cargo distribution and amount of fuel to ensure that weight and balance specifications are met. Monitors control panel to verify aircraft performance. Makes inflight repairs, such as replacing fuses, adjusting instruments, and freeing jammed flight control cables, using handtools, or takes emergency measures to compensate for failure of equipment, such as electrical and hydraulic systems. Monitors fuel gauges and computes rate of fuel consumption. Records malfunctions which were not corrected during flight and reports needed repairs to ground maintenance personnel. H53E Class Desk – Supported the Intermediate Maintenance Officer with H53 helicopter system knowledge to assist in efficient management of H53 maintenance and material support for multiple squadrons. Provided support to the squadrons by fulfilling all requested assistance locally and with aircraft engineering.

Quality Assurance Inspector – Commanding Officers are responsible for the inspection and quality of materials under their cognizance; however, aviation quality assurance representatives, collateral duty quality assurance representatives, and collateral duty inspectors are accountable to the quality assurance officer and aircraft maintenance officer within the Maintenance Department. These QARs, CDQARs. and CDls are fundamentally responsible for the prevention of the occurrence of defects. The concept embraces all events from the start of the maintenance operation to its completion. They must possess a detailed, working knowledge of all Navy-sponsored aviation maintenance programs and processes governed by COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790 (series) . Examines airframe, engines, and operating equipment to ensure that repairs are made according to specifications. Tests tightness of airframe connections with hand tools and employs flashlight and mirror to inspect fit of parts. Collects data, such as engine revolutions per minute and fuel and oil pressures, to evaluate engine performance, using tachometer and pressure gauges. Determines accuracy of installation of components in power plant and hydraulic system with protractor, micrometer, calipers, and gauge to ensure that specified tolerances are met. Signs inspection tag to approve unit, or records reasons for rejecting unit.

Pilot Familiarization Lead Instructor – Provided an 8 day required course of entry level instruction of all aircraft systems on the H53E helicoper.
