Reporting directly to the site Project Manager and the Regional Office Manager my duty is to provide cost control and administration support to the operation of the construction project. This requirement is only achieved by organisation and good communication at all levels. In addition to a positive response to pressure, prioritisation and attention to detail are other key areas. The main responsibilities in achieving this is by placing orders for material and plant, processing the received notes, resolving any problems with invoices and managing accruals. In addition weekly timesheets are produced and monitored and all relating HR issues. Labour costs and plant reconciliations are produced weekly to a high standard. Plant is required to be monitored weekly and stock checked to keep costs down. Regular reports to the commercial team, construction staff and management to ensure that costs, time and safety is maximised. During my time at LOR I have developed my knowledge of the construction industry through working for subsidiary companies Crown House Technologies (Mechanical and Electrical) and Expanded (infrastructure and superstructure) working on Barnsley Schools Project, Wittington Barracks (CHT), Buccleuch Academy (CHT), Oldham College and Etihad Stadium.

After working my way up from Office Junior to a Cost Accountant, I gained on-site experience placing material and plant orders, acknowledging receipt of materials and clearing off invoices. Other activities included processing a weekly payroll in addition to monitoring and checking a large amount of monthly expense claims. To ensure accurate reporting; monthly accruals and problem invoices had to be quickly resolved in the financial reporting systems. To minimise errors and costs to the company, several databases were accurately updated on a daily basis. Communication was a vital part of the role as I reported to the finance team as well as the construction site teams. Within this role I had to be very organised as the management team were depending on me to accurately process and report precise costs. I enjoyed working with a variety of different people throughout the company and develop relationships with suppliers.During my time I worked on many projects including Piccadilly Gardens Manchester, Manchester University,Derbyshire and Bassetlaw Schools, Caernarfon Justice Center, Darlington, Hull and Lincoln Academies, Pinderfields Cancer Center. In addition to spending periods of time in the Manchester and Leeds Offices.
