I'm a New Zealand Vietnam Veteran who as an Infantryman mentally collected many traumatic situations from combat which I buried and wouldn’t confront throughout my life. I completed 11 year’s service in the NZDF of which six were in South East Asia. I have decided to share my mental illness management failure story spanning some fifty years in a public forum to all ages and professions. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services with St John Ambulance Volunteers were my first Audiences. In 2022 I recorded the audio book, A Soldier’s View of the Vietnam War, the story of my Infantry Companies tour of duty, and in eleven hours of audio I was able to share memories and moments of myself and my Army mates which are now recorded forever in hardcopy and digital form. I'm now open to sharing my military and civilian life and the struggles to be a father with a mental illness in a public forum. ​I'm an experienced Trainer and Presenter with over forty years of involvement, and I'm still training and projecting managing projects today. My experience as a Trainer enables me to randomly drop black military humour into the presentation to “lighten’ the moment. I've been married since 1971, my wife and I live in Perth and have four children and nine grandchildren.
