    Supporting Criminology’s two IT infrastructures by myself for the majority of my duration working at the institute. Implementing procedures in order to support the department’s research, teaching and administrative activities. Including aspects of developing the website, as well as running the whole institute’s audio and visual support. Maintaining all computing facilities, ensuring staff and students receive a constant reliable service.I managed various projects alongside my core responsibilities, with the most demanding project being an upgrade of 50 machines. This was instigated by a new release of a heavily utilised piece of software that was resource hungry and had to be completed within an agreed budget and timescale. For this I had to determine which machines were of a certain age, coincide that information with the machines that failed to meet the minimum spec restrictions and then consider the end user’s requirements. Once that data had been gathered I prepared a timeline and technical plan. I then built an image that fitted the criteria of the project and also captured the future requirements of each user, with installations such as preloading Office, research software and printing utilities and any other peripherals which might be required.I was responsible for creating and managing websites, from the initial domain registration to ‘going live’ with HTML5 coding scripts. This included an extensive migration project.Twice a year I planned and held IT workshops with the new cohort of students. I would also regularly update the guidelines I had created, adapting them into advisories for the staff to educate and improve their experiences of the systems.
