Directs the management activities of multiple departments for a 500 acre 50 building manufacturing site. Program Manager responsible for Bombardier and Embraer projects worldwide. Primary products were aircraft transparencies and jet engine components. Managed various technical projects in support of Honeywell's HTF 7000 turbofan engine.

Managed multiple projects using SDI's pyrotechnic technology including battery cutoff switches, hoodlifter crash protection, seatbelt retractors and airbag initiation. Worldwide customer base including China, Germany, Brazil, Canada and the US. Most of the production was based in Thailand for my projects.

Directed Local Motors' Project Management approach to the Co-Creation process using open innovation methodologies including crowd-sourced design, white-label websites, strategic marketing, community management and micro-factory implementation. Local Motors led next-generation crowd-powered automotive design, manufacturing and technology, to enable the creation of game-changing vehicles, military workshops and kitchens. Through open-source principles, Local Motors helped solve local problems. Managed the partnership between Local Motors and the US Army and General Electric for Army Cocreate and First Build. While LM and Army Cocreate didn't survive, FirstBuild lives on!

Responsible for profit and loss of the Company’s crashworthy seating and aircraft armor business as it relates to the Navy, Marines and Air Force customers. This product line is comprised of government and commercial contracts as well as Internal Research and Development (IR&D) projects. These projects support both classified and non-classified development ($XM) and sustaining production $XXM of annual sales. I function as the primary business contact with Naval Air Command (NAVAIR), Sikorsky Aircraft Company, Boeing Philadelphia, Boeing Long Beach, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation Office (CAPE). Internally I matrix-manage the program through key subcontractors and functional group managers from product inception to contract closure. Specifically I supported the C-130, AH-1Z, UH-1Y, V-22, CH-53, MH-60R and CH-148 platforms.

In this role I was responsible for the Company’s Parachute and Aircrew business. I functioned as the Integrated Product Team leader for the Headborne Energy Analysis and Diagnostic System (HEADS), T-11 and E2-C Parachute systems, Flotation Collars and Air Warrior platforms. I managed the proposal and negotiation effort for the T-11 and HEADS projects totaling over $XXXM in new business for BAE Systems. I executed these projects as the primary business contact with Naval Air Command (NAVAIR), Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP), PM Air Warrior, US Army Soldier Systems Center Natick. I reported monthly financial and programmatic performance of each project to executive staff using Earned Value Management (EVM) tools such as Estimate to Complete (ETC), Earned Value (EV), Schedule and Cost Variance (SV & CV), Estimate at Complete (EAC), Risk and Opportunity Registers, Cost and Performance Indices (CPI and SPI) among others. Under previous ownership (Simula) as Sr Project Engineer, I performed the airbag and restraints engineering function for Cockpit Airbag Systems for Kiowa Warrior (OH-58) and Blackhawk (UH-60) helicopters. Trained in DO 178B airborne software certification methods. Managed changes and performed failure analysis and reporting on hardware and software.

Was part of a small team pursing the application of Amsafe’s seatbelt airbag technology into non-standard vehicle applications including school buses, delivery trucks, heavy trucks and military vehicles. In this role I defined the technical and programmatic approach to integrating this technology into these non-standard applications as well as providing the technical sales function for the company. Responsible to identify and certify new suppliers for Amsafe’s 16g teardrop buckle. During this year I managed the certification and qualification of new suppliers in compliance with internal and FAA TSO requirements. The components re-qualified included seatbelt webbing, progressive die stampings, fine blanking, and machined components.

Responsible for initial product quotation, application, design validation, and launch for electro-luminescent lamps and integrated circuit (IC) inverters for the wireless and automotive industry. Managed projects from customer inquiry through product launch by proposal writing, negotiating contracts, solving technical issues, and arranging delivery schedules. Customers included companies in the US and Europe in the automotive and consumer electronics industries. I initiated two key strategic partnerships with competitor / complementary firms to increase revenue potential and market expansion into new applications; one domestic and one international.

After my return to the US from Germany, I was assigned as key member of a team to transfer TRW’s Heated Gas Inflator (HGI) engineering authority from Detroit Mi. to Mesa Az. After this transfer, I was the Applications Engineer responsible for launching the HGI production in Peterlee England. During production launch I was a key engineering contact for frontal air bag gas generators for International customers including Daimler, BMW, Fiat, Toyota and Nissan. One of these European vehicles was recognized for the highest level of safety for the year 2000 using our technology. Our technical team went on to developed a “Dual-Stage” gas generator that provided safe airbag deployment for children and small adults. My career at TRW culminated in supervision of a small group of Applications Engineers focused on the European market.

While living and working in TRW’s headquarters in Alfdorf Germany, I managed TRW and Ford Motor Company’s first application of side impact airbags. TRW was awarded system level responsibility for qualification of this product. This project was successfully launched with a small group of engineers I supervised in Germany. As the project Application Engineering lead I coordinated with Ford’s supply base in England, Belgium, Germany, France and Austria to integrate this thorax airbag into the driver and passenger seat. I was the technical lead during sled testing in Alfdorf and full vehicle level crash testing which was subcontracted to Porsche at their Weissach development laboratories. I also coordinated efforts with TRW’s electronic systems division which supplied crash sensors for this effort. I traveled to Cologne and London monthly to report project status to the customer (Ford).

Developed driver airbag and gas generator hardware through Design of Experiments (DOE), Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and supplier development. Was awarded individual patent number 5,275,431 for a gas generator mounting device that is currently utilized in over 10 million vehicles worldwide.

Primary technical support for a high volume assembly processes that utilized laser welding, Statistical Process Control (SPC), automated blind riveting, robotics, electrical leadwire termination, orbital riveting and powder processing. Was trained and designated site Laser Safety Officer (LSO) and trained in explosives manufacturing. Was one of several key personnel responsible for ramp up from 200k to 7M units per year.
