About Pete Stone

Executive Leadership - Creative Producer - Programming.I have worked in the arts and community sectors for 30 years and have had the opportunity to collaborate with many great creatives from industry and government. I believe quality programming makes connections that are central to well-being and articulates what it means to be in relationship to community. Connections of this kind lead the discussion, design and delivery of high quality programming. I consider the ability to create an environment in which team members can excel as the most important task of management. In my work in the last 13 years these programs stand out for me: - Working with a talented team to expand the arts and culture program in the City of Melville to evolve Melville's identity as a cultural hub, place of learning and genuine connection, and as a leader in arts programming. 2020 to 2023.- Perth Festival's 'Highway to Hell' 2020. 150,000 people from Perth, interstate and overseas embraced this event, resulting in the richest community celebration I have ever been involved with. A genuine collaboration between local government, state government, Main Roads WA, The Public Transport Authority and other key agencies. - One Day in Fremantle 2017 and 2018. This event challenged thinking around the suitability of Jan 26 as an appropriate day to celebrate Australia. It sparked conversation around the country and attracted 15,000 + people in its first year.- The re-positioning of Fremantle Festival as a curated arts festival with strong commitment to new works that reflect place and connection to community. 2016/17.- The inaugural presentation of Fremantle Biennale's High Tide, 2017, a public art exhibition featuring the bold work of Swiss artist Felice Varini which stretched 800 metres from the Round House in Fremantle to the Town Hall. This work, and the rest of the program, challenged the notion and the value of art, and brought businesses, community, artists and institutions together in genuine ways.- The inaugural Falls Festival held in Kings Square, Fremantle, 2017. This event demonstrated how a festival can genuinely integrate with a town by incorporating surrounding infrastructure and businesses in to the festival footprint.- Working as The General Manager, contributing to the expansion of Fremantle Arts Centre's program offering, physical footprint and community connection both local and national. 2010 to 2015.

Listed skills include Arts Programming, Arts Administration, Community Consultation, Production Management, and 4 others.
