I was the lead engineer responsible for design, development, and initial product launch of the ST-1 Applicator for spraying fast-set polyurethane foams (spray-foam insulation) and polyureas (roofing). The applicator was a part of a larger design and development project that required a high level of coordination and cooperation among various engineering, sales, product management, and executive management personnel to maintain focus on project and business requirements. Design requirements were developed from customer requirements. Product was tested in the lab and in the field. Field trials were conducted with several strategic customers. The product was introduced to the market in early 2020, and it has been extremely well received against a very popular (and entrenched) competitive product. Expected to take significant market share from the competition.

New Product Development - Binks Gems Plural Component Spray System (1000 Psi, Acid-Based Catalysts)

Binks GEMS is an electro-mechanical plural component ratio control system that can dispense two component coatings in ratios from 1:1 to 50:1. High level of coordination required between software, hardware, and mechanical design. High level of communication required between engineering, product management and sales. Equipment requirements included ability to perform optimally with very corrosive catalysts. Software requirements included ability to report data that could be acquired remotely and analyzed by managers using data analytics software. Product introduced an improved metering system for catalyzed coatings that allows for a wider range of mix ratios, allowing customers to save money on catalyst and see a quicker payback on their equipment investment. High ratios (above 25:1) are critical for the wood finishing market (allows the use of less catalyst and improves customer ROI).
