About Pete Carmichael
Pete is a real estate and public administration professional with a unique blend of experiences in both the public and private sectors. He currently serves as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Irvine, Ca. leading the planning and development of the Orange County Great Park, the redevelopment of the former Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro into one of the country’s largest contemporary urban parks, in addition to heading up a variety of City administrative functions and special projects. Prior to his current role, Pete was the Community Development Director, where he led the City's planning, building and safety, permitting, and housing functions and served as the CEO of the Orange County Great Park Corporation. Prior to his tenure with the City of Irvine, Pete was the Director of Waterfront and Economic Development for the City of Redondo Beach, Ca where he led a $250 million public/private revitalization of the City's historic waterfront through financing, property acquisition, ground lease and D.A. negotiation, site planning, and entitlement. Pete began his career in the private sector with home builders John Laing Homes and the Olson Company including senior roles in acquisitions, entitlement, and sales and marketing. Pete received his BA and MBA from UCLA, is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, and is the proud President of the Dad's club at University Park Elementary School.
