I am the managing director of CB Reid Limited in Dorchester with an accountancy practice of 8 full and part-time staff. CB Reid is a general practice with significant experience in advising owner managed businesses and my aim is to provide constructive advice to improve profits with a strong focus on proactive tax efficiency. Since 2008 when I became managing director the business has more than doubled in size and our portfolio of substantial local businesses as clients has increased significantly. I have developed the business through local networking and national accountants’ groups to bring new ideas to both existing and new clients. I am an active member of the BNI Casterbridge chapter in Dorchester and served as chapter director as well as 2 terms as treasurer of the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce. Our client retention rate is high, as an empowered client can make sound decisions for their business and we take the time to explain concepts and choices in a way that they can understand and implement. Prior to moving to CB Reid Limited, I qualified as a chartered accountant at Deloitte LLP in London where I worked for 4 years in the SME audit department. This gave me first-hand experience of issues affecting entrepreneurs including business processes and growth as well as working on a number of corporate finance projects. I then spent 2 years working for Viacom Inc, a global media company including brands such as MTV and Paramount. My role involved substantial global travel giving me insights into business operations through Europe, Asia and North America.
