Leading the Net Zero Team while we find a permanent replacement

Peter is Head of Chemistry & Industrial Biotechnology at KTN where one of his key roles is to oversee programmes/ activities where innovation in chemistry and industrial biotechnology can play a key role in creating positive change. Peter also works closely with key stakeholders from Government and the private sector to develop new programmes/ initiatives to accelerate innovation. Peter’s key interests (and key focus areas for the team) include supporting the move to a Net Zero and Circular Economy, developing new supply chains for Raw Materials and Feedstocks, also the adoption of digitalisation techniques. Peter and the team are actively supporting a number of cross-sector KTN programmes related to: industrial decarbonisation, batteries, circular plastics, hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuels.

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) is the UK’s Innovation Network connecting people to speed up innovation, solve problems and find markets for new ideas. It's primary role is to nurture, develop and scale up innovation within business, connecting innovators with the wider knowledge economy.We work with large and small companies, government agencies and research organisations, with tech hubs and startups, public funding bodies, VCs and private investors as part of a unique network that helps enterprising people and companies reach the full potential of their innovative capabilities.We have specialist teams covering all key sectors of the economy, from defence and aerospace to the creative industries, the built environment to biotechnology and robotics. Working within the chemistry & industrial biotechnology team, I assist businesses that make and use chemicals. My role primarily focuses on helping to accelerate the innovation opportunities associated with raw materials. This includes: renewable feedstocks (e.g food & agricultural waste, CO2, biomass); conventional & unconventional oil & gas; and scarce metals and minerals.I am also the KTN lead on the ISCF Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge programme

Chemistry Australia is the pre-eminent national body representing Australia’s chemicals industry.

Reporting directly to the Senior Executive management team to assist in identifying and developing new systems, processes and reporting tools to further close the gap between research activities and commercial outcomes on projects associated with MBD’s products-from-algae (biochemicals/ etc) and bioremediation services.

Working as part of a high performance specialist team, providing environment & sustainability assurance & advisory services to Australia’s largest and most successful companies.

Working in the ‘industrial facilities’ team at PJRA, providing advisory and environmental auditing services to clients from various industry sectors. As a senior member of the consulting team I had responsibilities across the whole life cycle of projects, including: assessing client needs; managing project budgets and timelines; contract review; client liaison and liaison with Government Regulators; heading up our Energy and Climate Change group; presenting at seminars; and providing training to other consultants.

Working under the supervision of Prof. Milton Hearn to investigate the potential of spinning disk reactor technology for catalytic reactions

Working under the supervision of Prof. Martyn Poliakoff in the Clean Technology Group at University of Nottingham - and also in collaboration with Dr Andy Wells from AstraZeneca - to investigate the synthesis of pharmaceuticals using heterogeneous catalysis in a continuous flow reactor and supercritical carbon dioxide as the main solvent.During my PhD I participated in the Research Twinning Project at Heanor Gate School which allowed me to share my passion for green chemistry with the next generation of scientists.
