Peter du Toit launched the Centre for Conflict Sensitive Reporting (CCSR) - now the Conflict Sensitive Journalism Project (CSJP) at Rhodes University in 2010 to provide an institutional home for training aimed at encouraging journalists to cover conflict constructively. He has spent more than twenty years facilitating conflict sensitive reporting workshops for reporters and editors in countries affected by civil wars, ethnic violence and community conflict. He has primarily worked in East, West and Southern Africa, but has also spent extended periods in South East Asia training and supporting journalists in Indonesia, Timor Leste and Myanmar. He has also worked in the Ukraine and across Central Asia.
