  • Business Wales
    Ebusiness Advisor
    Business Wales May 2014 - Feb 2016
A Welsh Government project embedded within Business Wales through Antur Teifi. Operating across North Wales, I was primarily responsible for providing independent professional ICT advice and guidance for business of all sizes. Supporting both Government sector managers and Business Wales hubs, I had to foster excellent relationships with people of all positions to ensure project targets were met. The complex nature of the role and various different stakeholders has meant that I have had to integrate quickly and effectively within many different teams and provide project management and training when required. Additionally, I have also operated for long periods alone and independently, to ensure a fast response to bespoke requirements and ensure ultimate success of a project. The aim of the eBusiness team was to ensure businesses were making maximum use of their ICT and help to improve efficiency, lower complexity and reduce costs where possible. A high level of technical knowledge in traditional ICT solutions as well as modern solutions such as virtualisation, cloud computing and services on demand were essential. This knowledge was critical to extracting as much information as possible, quickly and accurately, often from directors and managers without dedicated ICT experience. This information was used to write a comprehensive ICT diagnostic report, in plain English. This report outlined the company’s current position, provided a number of recommendations and details the pros and cons of the available options. It was important that this report maintained its independent perspective, informing and guiding management rather than selling an idea. Following the report, assistance was then provided as required to ensure adequate sourcing of providers to help implement changes required. This additional support included acting as an intermediary, advising on migration and processes, and helping guide on technical issues during a tender to ensure project success.
