As a Principal System Engineer Lead I continued to deliver on my project responsibilities from my old role and have also now taken on direct line management responsibilities for a large team of 11 engineers. The project needed steering by an experienced technical leader who could identify the problems and then enthusiastic introduce change and processes to motivate the large Systems Engineering team to increase delivery. This has now been achieved and the project is progressing on plan.

As a Principal System Engineer I technically managed and oversaw the delivery of a large, complex new variation. This was for an important customer for the business and had great strategic and monetary value.The project to be upgraded had a large amount of technical debt. I had to devise a strategy to recover the debt and properly define the proposed system changes. This then had to be estimated and agreed with both internal and external stakeholders before leading a team to undertake the work.This included the generation of the following documentation:• Various design studies• Various statements of work• Various system impact assessments• CONOPS documentation• Requirements definition and specifications• Work packages• Architectural diagrams and associated documentation• Scope management and various tools and outputs to measure project progress• EIS and other Design documentation• RoadmapsAs well as this, in my own time I sought to improve business processes, documentation and tools. In particular I created an open, collaborative, modular software application to share key information to various departments around the business, keep that information in sync and augment it with additional data to automate powerful progress measuring metrics. This is now in use by other 10 projects globally in Cubic and is supported enthusiastically by developers based in the US, NZ and UK.

As a Principal Systems Engineer I took accountability for the end-to-end lifecycle across technically complex projects such as McLaren's Cloud Platform. The platform provides several intrinsic benefits to McLaren such as: Provisioning cloud ready architecture for deployments using the latest cloud technologies. Facilitating both automated and inner sourcing models. Implementing and enforcing enterprise security and cloud governance. My role was divided into two objectives. First was to identify and formally document the fixed scope around best practices and cloud governance to ensure this is implemented correctly. I also developed a tool within the platform that automates analysis of the platform traceability and identifies any orphan requirements, stories or tests. With this I am aiming to integrate system engineering experience and best practices into an agile platform so that it is informative, automated and empowering for the engineers that maintain it

I provided the critical link between stakeholder (E.g. In this role I was responsible for leading the largest and most technically complex system Flowbird had ever delivered.The project is a world leading, multi-modal, industry first, smart city public transport ticketing system with Oyster style journey payments.Responsibilities included:- Leading a team of Solutions Architects to: * Assessing and selecting system components in line with the needs and constraints of stakeholders. * Documenting proposed system architecture for review & approval * Undertaking Systems Engineering activities to deliver the agreed system, including detailed requirements engineering * Producing functional and technical design documentation * Overseeing system development, testing, approval and deployment processes for all system components * Designing and managing the integration between multiple system suppliers- Providing technical input to support commercial activities- Providing consultancy on payment card industry (PCI) compliance's and the requirements of the public transport industry into the business- Co-ordinating the various Agile delivery teams and define and enforcing the necessary processes for the sprint teams to follow- Fulfilling the role of Product Owner to the Requirements sprint team- Fulfilling the role of Chief Product Owner to all involved sprint teams (DaD)- Reviewing and approving technical decisions and content for the project to ensure this satisfies the overall needs of the customers vision- Creating and following the processes required to deliver to the customer including both internal and external processes that the customer must follow (accounting for their dependencies)

Primarily, I was a technical lead on several high profile public transport systems throughout the UK, Ireland and Australia where I was responsible for the design and implementation of complex smart ticketing systems.I was also a technical consultant for the Parkeon sales team for bids and quotations which analysed risks and identified new technologies and potential developments that could boost business growth.
