I was fortunate enough to be indoctrinated into the credit union philosophy of financial self-help through cooperative efforts at the beginning of my professional career. As time went on, I made a concerted effort to learn and experience every aspect of this “not for profit, not for charity, but for service” concept know as credit unions. And, the concept of working hard as an individual, and donating those efforts to the greater good, and are now a part of my being.With more than 30 years, I believe I have accomplished what few have achieved in the credit union movement. While many can say they have done some of these, I can honestly say I have experience at literally every level of the business: • As a professional in credit unions, I have held every position from teller to CEO; • As a professional in association management, I have worked and managed all aspects of dues and fee-related services; • As an entrepreneur, I have built unique businesses supporting credit union needs; • As a vendor, I bring to my clients the varied global data services from the largest and most diverse credit bureau in the world; • As a student, I completed many of the major certification programs available; • As a volunteer, I have served at the local, state, national, and international levels of the credit union movement, including as a board member of my own credit union; and • As a consultant, through my 20 years of work with three state credit union leagues, as teacher and presenter, and as a strategic planner, I have worked with literally thousands of credit unions.Work with me and get support from an individual who has a vast knowledge of what works and what does not. And of course, I would never recommend anything I would not use or do myself.Others look at credit unions as a business or industry. I look at credit unions as the movement that it is, and the cause I choose to support. And I have accepted the fact I will never get rich doing it.
