I am responsible for all Materials management functions and Purchasing policy for four hospitals in the James Bay area. Working with and perfecting MEDITECH supply chain system. Ensuring critical stock items are maintained at proper levels. In Markdale, manufacturing Ice cream and related products; On a daily basis review all levels of inventory of packaging, bulk liquids and raw materials to ensure proper supply is available for production requirements. Items purchased, all packaging, including printed folding cartons, labelled plastic containers and lids, sticks and overwraps. Raw materials include powdered mixing ingredients, sauces, ripples, inclusions items, nuts, stabilizers, colours and flavours. Review usage of expired ingredients and disposal of this material. Arrange pickups from suppliers with company owned transportation equipment making best use of driver hours. Assist in a team environment planning of production for daily and weekly schedules. Evaluate and produce blanket purchase orders for future requirements based on trends. Trained and working within the HACCP guidelines. Involved in training of junior buyers. Maintaining and using information from SYSPRO computerized planning system and SOLOCHAIN warehouse scanning system. Previously involved in purchasing office supplies, maintenance parts and safety supplies.; Achieved Cost savings and Cost avoidance of over $200 thousand annually through tendering quotes and using more suitable suppliers for certain items that also resulted in better quality stock. Also keeping track of market trends for certain commoditiesDeveloped and implemented a Days of Inventory report that showed high and low trends for all products. This allowed us to run more appropriate amounts of frozen stock on each production runRedesigned raw materials reports for packaging and ingredients to sort by all items for each supplier. Pickups by company owned trucks were better utilized by this report as less visits had to be made to suppliersImplemented cycle counting schedule that resulted in full counts being done once a year instead of every month

PPG Canada Inc. in Owen Sound, manufacturing glass products for the automotive and housing markets; Performed quality checks on finished good glass products within company and safety guidelines. Was selected to supervise summer student painting crew, training them in safety procedures and requirements. Fulfilled one year contract and was asked to stay on past this time.

(formerly Electro-Wire) in Owen Sound, manufacturing wire harnesses for the heavy truck and bus sectors.; Negotiated pricing and delivery terms with suppliers totalling $10 million annually. Reviewed on a weekly basis all stock levels of raw materials and sundry supplies for production lines to ensure proper amounts of inventory were in house to support production lines. Purchased items include many types of wire, connectors, diodes, fuses, alarms, heat shrink tubing, convolute tubing and corrugated shipping boxes. Arranged most cost efficient methods of transportation for purchased goods working in conjunction with customs brokers. Liaison with engineering department personnel for sourcing of new and existing raw materials. Supervised a Junior buyer, Data entry clerk and three unionized warehouse personnel in their daily activities. Negotiated yearly contracts for office supplies.
