In this role I am the site lead for the Clariant Production Services (CPS) Excellence initiative. Participating in an overall site diagnostic audit, we revealed almost a dozen improvement projects for the Needham catalysts production facility. This program is designed to reduce cost (increase efficiency & effectiveness), increase margins (by increasing throughput), and trigger enablers for success (through KPI performance management, standardization, and lean/six sigma methodology and tools). My responsibilities as the AO is centered around establishing a communication plan across the different work streams (engineering, production, processes) and facilitating team meetings to stay on track through the 3 to 18 month individual DMAIC life cycles to deliver tangible benefits.

In this role, I serve as main point of contact for all catalyst service related requests both internally (customer service, sales, technical services, production, quality, supply chain, ESHA, etc) and externally for our customers. The includes maintaining safe operation of our labs, efficient return authorization and service processes, and sustaining a “white glove” level of support for our aftermarket customers by all process owners and team members.I am also an adviser to the test engineer, and oversee their development by providing training on all laboratory instrumentation and equipment, establishing SOPs from best practices, teaching industrial catalyst concepts and designs, and encouraging a culture a continuous improvement.

As the test engineer, I provided an opportunity for end-users and system integrators to receive a technical assessment of their catalysts’ condition and comprehensive support. The catalyst test lab offers a variety of services, including inspection, activity testing, characterization analysis, and regeneration, to monitor catalyst performance using samples collected from the field. The interpretation and transformation of these experimental results into test reports allowed me to offer a correlation between to field performance and catalyst life-span. Most importantly, the test reports opened an avenue of communication, allowing us to work collaboratively with our customers to help develop preventative and corrective maintenance recommendations, ensuring air compliance is met and providing peace of mind.
