Led the system engineering team for several combat vehicle development and upgrade programs for U. S. Army and Marine Corps customers. Activities included requirements analysis, concept development and assessment to ensure that concepts meet or exceed key survivability, mobility, lethality and habitability requirements; and reflect a balanced design for all other specified capabilities. Key member of the proposal team for each contract.

Managed the systems engineering efforts to develop the next generation Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operations Center (RPAOC) for the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) including operational, system, segment, and component analyses.

Responsible for planning, coordinating and executing System-of-Systems architectural analysis of the U.S. Army’s Future Combat Systems. While leading a team of six engineers and architecture analysts, responsible for ensuring continuity and architectural consistency between the Platform Systems architecture and the Network Systems architecture in the context of the System of Systems such that there is a clear and workable framework for the specification, design, integration and test of the platform and network systems.

Responsible for the development of system architecture for the Manned Ground Vehicle segment of the U.S. Army’s Future Combat Systems. Responsible for ensuring continuity and architectural consistency between the System of Systems architecture and the Manned Ground Vehicle architecture to provide a clear and workable framework for the design, integration and test of the eight Manned Ground Vehicle variants.

Responsible for managing the system software requirements analysis and preliminary design on the first software release on a program to design and build the U.S. Army’s billion-dollar next generation field artillery system (Crusader). Led a team of 60 engineers to conduct the Object Oriented analysis and preliminary design of the software for real-time, multi-operator system including vehicle management, digital communications and robotic mechanism control. The effort synthesized behavioral and architectural requirements; mechanical and electronic hardware design; and failure, hazard, logistics and user interface constraints into system software requirements and preliminary design. Responsibilities included coordinating the incremental buildup of software capabilities with the program’s test requirements to ensure timely demonstration of key capabilities; resolving system and software design issues across multiple teams to ensure compliance with system and software requirements; and for coordination with the customer regarding operational suitability of the design.

Developed the software and hardware requirements, and user–computer interface design for a multi-operator, vehicle simulator (Advanced Field Artillery System–ATD). Executed a system engineering program for the future vehicle system advanced technology demonstrator crew compartment simulator and the associated robotic test stand. Led a team of five engineers in support of five product development teams to ensure consistent application of design guidance and usability principles in all user–machine interfaces across the system, while integrating with other teams’ requirements.

Responsible for the training and welfare of up to forty-five personnel and the accountability, maintenance and tactical employment of a wide variety of electronic and combat equipment. Also performed duties as customer liaison between logistics support element and heavy combat brigade of more than 3000 people and $500 million worth of combat and combat support equipment, including deployment to and redeployment from Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Performed successfully in a number of successive leadership positions of increasing responsibility and authority. Designed and implemented maintenance programs for electronic and mechanical equipment resulting in dramatic improvements in equipment availability. Designed and instituted training plans that resulted in great improvements in mission performance.
