My thirty-five year professional careers was in organization architecture & development. My clients included Fortune 50 companies, their divisions and subsidiaries, and my specialty was to help executives adapt their organizations to constantly evolving business models.I also founded and managed Blue Oak Vineyards LLC, a premium wine-growing company that provided chardonnay, pinot noir and sauvignon blanc to wineries in Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino Counties, California.I retired in 2007. Since then my avocations have included gardening & landscaping with emphasis on japanese maples, wilderness medicine, volunteering with the Marin Medical Reserve Corps, and serving as a board member and Projects Chair, Marin Medical Reserve Corps Foundation. I hold a medical license as a Wilderness EMT through Marin County, the State of California, and the Wilderness Medicine Institute, National Outdoor Leadership School.I continue interested in applying whole systems analysis and action research to incubate innovative practices that will improve community resilience, i.e., improved disaster preparation and response. Within that framework, I am particularly interested in exploring the relationship between wilderness medicine and disaster medicine. Both fields involve extended patient triage, treatment and transport in austere environments.
