For over 30 years I've been working in the Corporate IT sector. Initially I was a Business Analyst in the telecommunications industry. However for most of my career I've been developing software with a variety of tools. For over 19 years I've used Java and J2EE components as well a variety of Open Source tools including Spring, and many of the apache/Jakarta tools ie. Tomcat, commons, etc. I've worked on a variety of projects mainly with smaller teams where I'm asked to perform tasks such as Release Management, and Platform architecture. Specialties: For 12 years I worked with the telecommunications industry. More recently, it's been all Financial Services, however contrary to conventional belief, it's all transferable to any industry. Everything in IT is interrelated.Most recently I had heavy exposure to AWS EC2 container managed services along with cloud based services for a boutique investment company.

Enabled me to work on a very sophisticated Visual C++ system which targeted risk locations to minimize exposure from having too many risks in one location. Utilized custom mapping addin to produce a map of the location and then overlay the risks. Also worked on several VB applications, and my first Java project where we built a travel based application that would write travel policies online. I created a service that interfaced with Chubb's mainframe policy printing system via MQ. Basically created COBOL record layout from Java and sent the bytestream to the que, and received the return message back to the user. System was a very early MVC, as it was designed by former Smalltalk architects where the MVC had been used for some time. -
