As a senior member of Council’s Parks and Gardens team, I have been involved in all aspects of the management of operational services at the City of Whittlesea. Having initially operated with a combination of in house staff and selected external contractors, in January 1997, the Parks Maintenance service was awarded to an external service provider. It was our role to ensure that the Council’s strategic opens space goals were achieved, and the condition of Councils horticultural assets were maintained through working in partnership with contract service providers.
