Having just retired from social service administrative work supporting people with disabilities in British Columbia, Canada, my wife and I have taken an assignment with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) to provide program leadership for its program in Egypt. This involved the disbursement, administration and monitoring of funds to local education, skills training and other projects to local Egyptian partners, as well as supervision of MCC service workers temporarily placed into assignments in Egypt. The assignment was for one year (lasted 16 months) and it came at a time of significant political upheavel in the country.Currently am retired, but have indicated an interest in providing volunteer expertise to MCC for program reviews. I am also volunteering as an agency peer reviewer for the Council on Accreditation for agencies wishing to pursue accreditation and/or re-accreditation.
