I spent more time in the sales, specification, and category/product management of commercial kitchen equipment than I ever did as a chef in the earlier years of my career.Over the years, I have been very fortunate to have ventured to many parts of the world in the course of my career. In these travels, I have established many friendships and networks within a wide range of roles and industries. I’m now retired, but staying connected on LinkedIn helps me to keep me updated on the industry, and to follow posts of where all my friends and colleagues have been, and what they have been up to.

Margins were consistently on the rise, & the presence of the Rotisol brand in the marketplace became firmly established as the #1 brand in it's category in Australia as a result of my efforts.I managed all aspects of the gas approval process for a complete new range of Rotisol products.     Bonn Appliances (est 1996) had grown to become Australia’s leading commercial microwave oven specialist, & was also the exclusive Australian distributor of HALLDE food preparation machines - Made in Sweden, DYNAMIC versatile hand held mixers - Made in France, & ROTOR blenders & juicers - Made in Switzerland.The founder & owner of BONN Appliances had taken a step back from the day-to-day management of his own business & my role was to manage & run the business on his behalf "as if it were my own". I was responsible for a national sales team consisting of BDM's & Agents, all head office staff including Financial Controller, accounts receivable/payable, customer service, spare parts & service division, logistics, warehousing & marketing. Bonn Appliances had enjoyed consistent sales growth of between 5 - 10% per annum up until the time I took over the reins, & whilst we maintained that growth in my first year, year 2 was looking very bright due to a number of new marketing & sales incentives I had established both with our sales team as well as our national Dealer network.Unfortunately not long into my 2nd year at BONN Appliances, the owner confided to me that he had been in protracted negotiations to sell the company. The new owners of BONN Appliances were an established Melbourne based enterprise who made the decision to integrate the BONN products into their own existing product range & as a result, my services as well as other key staff were no longer required.The measure of my success in the role in such a short time was the accolades & praise I received from Bonn's direct competitors in the marketplace. I met with 2 GM's of other companies after the sale of BONN was finalised, & both told me that whilst they were sympathetic to the loss of the roles for myself & colleagues, both were also ecstatic over the news of the sale of BONN as my initiatives of the past 12 months had started to seriously bite into their market-share.
