The Defence Material Organisation (DMO) supplies the Netherlands Armed forces with the best possible equipment and IT to ensure that our colleagues can do their jobs as effective and save as possible. The Directorate of Projects (D-PROJ) within the DMO realizes projects and (together with the Directorate of Acquisition and Joint IT Command) acquires that equipment.As part of the Directorate of Projects, the Department for Aviation Projects is responsible for the whole portfolio of aviation and space related projects.

Together with my team (Department of Helicopter Operations, Directorate of Operations, Air force HQ) I direct, guide and support all elements within these operating chains to ensure effective helicopter operations.

‘Plans’ is one of three Directorates of the Chief of Defense (CHOD). On behalf of the CHOD, the Directorate of Plans (DPlan) acts as Corporate Planner and determines requirements for the NLD Armed Forces. Within DPlan operational policy is developed and aligned with overall Defense Policy and thereafter translated to plans that fit within the NLD Armed Forces budget.Responsibilities (among other things): • Implement measures that result from the increased Defense budget as described in the Defense White paper 2018;• Develop plans for future growth on behalf of DPlan;• Liaise between the military intelligence services (MIVD) and the Defense Staff;• Coordinate communications with parliament.

The Directorate of plans converts policy to operational capacities on behalf of the Chief of Defense. I lead the team that identifies, initiates and drafts helicopter related requirements. Execution of material projects (procurement) that result from these requirements, lead to a serviceable, operational relevant, affordable and future-proof helicopter force for the Netherlands Armed Forces.

The department for Joint Special Operations (JSO) within the Directorate of Operations of the Dutch Ministry of Defense is responsible for planning, control and guidance of special operations and directly supports the Chief of Defense and the Minister of Defense in all special operations related matters. The Senior Air Advisor supports JSO as an integrated part of the team by providing knowledge about Air Operations, creating policy regarding to Air related matters and liaise between the Special Operations Forces community and the Air force leadership and squadrons.
