Retired in April 2015 after almost 41 years in a customs related environment I served in a variety of operational, but mostly investigative roles and was promoted senior manager (Assistant Director) in 2005. In HMRC, Border Agency and NCA, I held senior investigation positions, leading and managing a large number of officers, managing considerable operational risk and significant resource and capital budgets. I also had an extensive policy portfolio and regularly prepared and delivered written and verbal briefings for ministers, senior Home Office officials and law enforcement officers specifically relating to Border related issues.I have extensive experience in project management and from 2006 to 2012 was involved in management programmes involving three complete office re-locations and re-branding of staff. This involving numerous road-shows, union negotiations and dealing with external contractors. I have detailed knowledge of the application of covert policing techniques and was a Senior Authorising Officer/Authorising Officer for activity under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) 2000. I am trained in chairing grievance, discipline and misconduct panels also sift and interview panels. Pete currently holds SC+ vetting status
