I am a creative process guy. I love problem solving in and around music, production, film, storytelling, crafting jokes, and designing winning decorations for golf cart parade floats. I love the challenge of just about anything that lets me set my imagination to it. From creating light towers out of plywood and coffee cans for my high school rock band, to plotting out story boards for the animation used in my production He Rules the World, I'm up for the challenge. My major skills are:• Writing Music• Arranging Music• Music Transcription• Music Education• Theory• Creating Tracks• Orchestration• Conducting• Clinician• Songwriting• Using DAWs/Music Publishing Software• Piano/Keyboards/Vocals/Trombone/Bass/DrumsMy current project is He Rules the World. The show is a high-energy live concert telling of the Nativity story that uses familiar Christmas melodies to launch into new musical material that tells us the greatest story ever told as sung from the perspective of Mary, Joseph, the Angel Gabriel, the Innkeeper, Herod, and more. The premiere production featured Broadway singer David Gaschen (Phantom of the Opera) and was narrated by actor Kevin Sorbo (God’s Not Dead, Hercules). As an educator over the past 18 years, I’ve done everything from mentor a Texas All-State Jazz musician, grow a jazz ensemble program, publish choral music that was added to festival lists, compose original music for marching competitions, be named Teacher of the Year two years in a row, develop my own class for Music Production, and work with world-class musicians such as Bill Watrous (trombone), Will Kennedy (drummer, The Yellowjackets), and Eric Marienthal (saxophone, Chick Corea Electric Band). I also wrote and arranged over 580 musical acts for a 16-year run of performances that raised over a quarter million dollars of revenue for a booster program. As a musical director, I’ve written arrangements for and directed productions with vocal talent such as Jackie Burns (Wicked), Ruby Lewis (We Will Rock You), Janine DaVita (Grease), Rudy Cardenas (American Idol), Therese Curatolo (Postmodern Jukebox), and Kelley Jakle (Pitch Perfect). In addition, I’ve conceived, written, and produced multiple convocation events with over 300 performers/musicians that performed for over 7,000 audience members at a time.In addition, I've worked for Steinway & Sons in Los Angeles and Blue Man Group in Boston, and performed for Presidents Reagan, Ford, Bush (41), and Nixon while a member of the United States Marine Band. I'm also an Operations Desert Shield/Storm veteran.

Director Of Jazz Studies, Music Theory, And Music Production | Problem Solver | Film ScoringKilleen Isd Aug 2015 - May 2024Harker Heights, TexasI grew the Jazz program at Harker Heights High School from one incomplete band, when I took it over, to three full ensembles with dedicated classroom facilities. In addition to leading three ensembles, I've written numerous works for those groups, including original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards. I mentored the first-ever TMEA All-State Jazz student selected from the Killeen Independent School District. My love for producing shows and concerts also led me to be able to host legendary musicians such as Bill Watrous (trombone), Grammy winner Will Kennedy (drummer, The YellowJackets), and Grammy winner Eric Marienthal (saxophonist, Chick Corea Electric Band).I've developed a course entitled Music Production that teaches basic concepts of production to young music students and introduces them to artists, styles, and musical genres to help expand their horizons. This innovative class is project based and gives the students hands-on experience creating music for various scenarios using Logic software and MIDI input devices. My theory students enjoy the benefit of learning everything from commercial arranging to 16th Century Species Counterpoint. My goal is to equip my students with real-world musical skills that give them a competitive advantage in today's market. In additional service to the district, I have designed and produced three separate convocation performances that each involved a 20-25 minute entertainment package with live musicians, singers, dancers, and other performers totaling over 200 cast members per show. These convocation events averaged over 7,000 audience members per performance. If you have a vision, I can make it happen. If you don't have the vision, I can help you find one. -

A few of those compositions are commercially available, including Nakutakia Siku Njema - a Traveler's Guide to Swahili (Walton Music Publishing) and Arrives the Snow (Colla Voce Music Publishing).I was also an active piano accompanist and sought-after commissioned composer for other regional choir programs. -

El Toro, CA as my permanent duty station. While with the Marine Band, I acted as a pianist, keyboardist, vocalist, and arranger for the jazz and rock ensembles in which I performed.
