Professor Peter Baade is an experienced biostatistician with over two decades working at Cancer Council Queensland, where he leads a research program dedicated to understanding patterns in cancer outcomes across diverse populations in Australia and beyond. His research sheds light on how geography, remoteness, socioeconomic disadvantage, and ethnicity influence these outcomes. Notably, he co-leads the Australian Cancer Atlas project, an award-winning initiative mapping cancer disparities across Australia (https://atlas.cancer.org.au).Peter holds adjunct professorships at Queensland University of Technology and the University of Queensland. With a robust research portfolio, he has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications, accruing more than 30,000 citations and achieving an h-index of 57 (Scopus). His work includes 24 monographs and editorial roles with Cancer Epidemiology, Cancer Medicine, and Annals of Cancer Epidemiology. As an accomplished researcher, he has received over $40 million in grant funding, including NHMRC and ARC grants, and has supervised numerous PhD and Master’s students to completion.Beyond research, Peter contributes extensively as a reviewer for major national and international funding bodies, journals, and thesis evaluations. He has also served on NHMRC and MRFF review panels. His research has directly shaped government policy aimed at reducing cancer inequalities tied to location, making a significant impact on public health strategies.
