About Peter Bacon

Ever since I started on the frontline in East London in March 2008, I have been committed to the cause of helping more people with disabilities to secure decent, lasting jobs in open employment settings. This journey has taken me through not-for-profits, social enterprise, and for-profits both large and small, in a variety of strategy, BD, and operational roles. Now I am honoured to be the CEO of Disability Employment Australia - an organisation which has argued the case for disability employment for over 30 years. We represent over 75% of disability employment providers in Australia through policy and advocacy, organise events and networking, and develop/curate training in best practice. There is still much to do. It is far too hard for people with disability to find and retain work in Australia, let alone to progress and fulfil their full potential. The principal cause for this is exclusion, perpetuated by ableism and sustained by the soft bigotry of low expectations. At DEA, we are determine to change that. If you are too, please get in touch!
