Started at Condong sugar mill as a labour/ shift fireman in the boiler house duties involved management of the fuel reserves for the Boiler house, ash system on six multi fire tube boilers, general house keeping.I was moved from there to the Shift Cane Supply Officer the next season where duties involved cane supply and bin movements, coordinating with growers , transport and mill crushing personal to ensure and constant supply of product to the Mill.Tracking of cane through the milling process and sampling to check quality of the product . Running reports of production and product for management.In the non crush part of that year I was moved to the boiler house to be a relief Operator of a state of the art 160t Boiler firing on biomass or diesel fuels, Operate State of the art 35mw and 3mw steam generators. 500kw emergency Diesel Generator, Operate water treatment plant using tertiary treated effluent for Demin water. Ensure plant is operating in a correct and safe manner, Perform on going maintance, Monitor and adjust were required all plant. Record and advice of any abnormalities. Report writing and record keeping.Upon the completion of my training I was placed as a full time Shift Steam Operator. Operating on a 24/7 Basis 12hr shift Ensure correct chemical levels and boiler treatment, Enter any maintenance jobs as required. Operate , inspect and adjust as necessary all fuel conveyors, Report all faults Ensure balance of plant including Demin plant is operating correctly. DSC operations including Yokogawa and Citek. Staff training and assessment Lockout procedures and the development of Safe Work Practices Control steam and power loadings for Process (sugar Mill).

As Australian Lifeguard Service supervisor I covered an area from Flagstaff beach(D' bah) on the New South Wales boarder Tweed Council to Evans Head in the Richmond Valley Council area. 34 beaches over 120 kms of coastline and four local government areas.The day to day running of which involved staff rostering, payroll, Work Health &Safety of staff, knowledge and fitness assessments, any gap training requirements.Ensure service levels are meet to contract standards. Staff levels, Equipment and Times reflected the expectations of the contract in each local government area.Respond to emergency calls from within the service and outside agencies i.e. Police or Ambulance services.Identify new recruits and be part of the recruitment process.Ensure the Public Water Safety message was being delivered to all levels of the community.Liaison with media outlets on events within the contract areas.
