This involves resolving issues with bespoke software for the taxi industry, including dispatch software (lots of MySQL issues), Asterisk-based phone systems, and mobile phone apps. (Both IOS and Android)Also involves providing training for teams based globally, escalating issues to product management, and reporting bugs to R&D on Jira.

Autocab is the largest provider of taxi dispatch software in the UK. This role primarily involves providing technical assistance for Uk-based taxi companies, such as Cresta, Street Cars Manchester, and Club Cars to name a few around Manchester.Initially this largely involved making sure that bookings logged by operators went out to drivers, but gradually throughout the product lifecycle of the dispatch software, additional features were added - in particular, mobile phone apps (for both drivers and passengers), and a bespoke phone system. This role largely involved resolving technical issues with bespoke software as and when they occurred. This included fixing issues with networking kit, particularly dreytek routers and switches, some cisco routers, as well as the bespoke asterisk-based phone system. Gradually, ITIL practices were introduced, and additionally, many customers were moved from on-site servers to cloud-based SAAS servers. These systems were upgraded from servers running on Microsoft XP, to Azure systems running windows server 2012. This role also involved working from home on an on-call out-of-hours rota

Crewe

This role involved working in a team providing first line IT support for various government and Corporate contracts. This included first line support for PDAs, general desktop and networkissues including VPN, as well as password resets. This role primarily involved call logging, andeither providing the user with a first time fix or passing the issue to the relevant support team.

Keele

This role involved working in Keele University Computer Laboratories providing face-to-face technical support to non-computer science undergraduate students.
