Admitted to practice in Tasmania in 1980 after an apprenticeship with the then Hobart legal firm of Ogilvie McKenna Wilmshurst and Mills. Subsequently admitted to practice in the Family Court, Federal Court and High Court of Australia. Elected to practice as a barrister in 1997.Extensive experience in litigation in the Magistrates Court, Criminal Court, Court of Criminal Appeal and Supreme Court of Tasmania as well as other courts and tribunals.Retained by the Justice Department as counsel to assist in Coronial Inquiries and Boards of Inquiry. Defended police officers in relation to allegations or charges made against them and senior police officers in respect of promotion and disciplinary matters. Has acted for politicians facing corruption and other charges of of criminal conduct. Experienced in the conduct of civil trials on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants.Retained to act for and defend senior members of the legal profession.Frequently instructed to act for those charged with serious crimes including allegations of fraud and sexual assault.Member of The Law Council of Australia.
