North Coast

- Liaising with, training and providing information to senior management, supervisors, employees and unions regarding Workers Compensation, Occupational Health and Safety, rehabilitation, risk management and the management of 115 sections- Leading safety for North Coast TAFE for over 2500 staff over 17 campuses over 540km, including identifying and implementing strategies - Building a OH&S management system across the Institute- Reducing workers compensation costs by over 90% in real terms and maintaining the improvement- Interpreting new legislation and implementing strategies to educate staff and meet our legislative requirements, including the new Work, Health and Safety Act- Completing risk assessments across all areas including welding, bricklaying, construction, manufacturing, automotive, electrical and hospitality workshops and environments- Providing advice and training on industrial relations issues and legislation, including complaints handling, investigation, workforce planning and annual review processes- Recruiting and training staff, including convening interview panels- Staff management and development- Industrial Relations advice and management, including working on the project team to develop, roll out and implement early intervention approaches to performance and conflict issues - Assisting staff with compensable and non-compensable injuries, illnesses and diseases.- Providing advice and correspondence to senior management and the insurer’s legal advisers regarding litigation matters.- Reviewing and adapting the North Coast Institute’s policies and procedures in regards to workers compensation, then reporting and distributing the procedures to North Coast Institute staff.- Compiling and reporting appropriate statistical information and analysing the information regarding workers compensation and injury trends.- Devising and implementing strategies to address the trends in injuries and workers compensation.
