Part design and process automation for off-road motorcycle accessories, focusing on sheet metal parts, jig design and automation of production processes. Primarily part-time while studying at university. Originally hired to fill the role of lead engineer, where I was responsible for new product development while overseeing a lively production line to support existing products.Force Accessories is one of the leading Australian manufacturers of after-market and OEM protection for off-road motorcycles, specialising in protective parts such as engine and radiator guards. In this position I was responsible for a range of tasks, including the CAD design and rapid prototyping of products to suit new models of motorbike, design of jigs for a welding robot, CAD/CAM programming of this robot and other production machines, and ongoing support to manufacturing line operators.In a fast-paced industry favouring new design to production times in the order of one to three weeks, this role allowed me to build experience with laser scanning, sheet metal fabrication processes, jig design and in the high-pressure demands of small business in the manufacturing industry.
