I was an executive financial advisor, advising high net worth clients in Constantia on their investment and insurance portfolios and structured their wills for tax.A typical day involved checking emails for anything important, making phone calls or callbacks, hunting for new business from existing clients through chats on the phone or when they walked into the bank. I consulted, gave advice, did the quotations, did compliance paperwork and then repeated.

I reached a point where I advised people on everything. There was nothing that I could not sell or do. I advised on their investment and insurance portfolio's which involved sales of homeloans, insurance, investments, corporate benefits and pension funds, offshore investments in tax havens, medical aid and short term insurance products. It also involved admin, research, presentations, sourcing clients, networking, problem solving, strategy, goal setting, targets, respecting laws, study work, testing, accreditation's, target achievement. I was also involved in the short term insurance side with Mutual and Federal, selling both personal lines of insurance and commercial and focused on that quite a bit to generate an income. I left Old Mutual due to being head hunted by Standard Bank with a more attractive package. Here I worked on providing quotes to clients, moving funds, giving advice and client retention at a national call center, with rolling calls coming in all the time nationally. I worked at a call center, maintaining clients and dealing with client queries about portfolio's providing updates and selling products over the phone.I was one of the forty candidates out of a mass interview of 2000 people that took place over 3 days. After doing multiple tests such as IQ test, situational interviews and aptitude I was one of the forty candidates who made it. I unfortunately had to leave here due to immigration issues.
